Government funded hours

What funding is available to me?

We are sorry to say that we are unable to offer the funded hours paid for by the Government at this stage as our opening date is after the headcount for the summer term. We apologise for this however plan to offer the Government funded hours from September 2017.

15 hours Universal entitlement:

All 3 and 4 year old children are able to access 570 hours of entitlement hours funded by the Government from the term after their third birthday. This funding can be applied across the school terms (38 weeks per year) or stretched to cover a longer period of the year (51 weeks per year).

Some two-year-olds in England can also get free entitlement hours funded by the Government if they meet certain criteria.

30 hours (15 additional hours)

Working parents  of 3 and 4 year olds are able to obtain an additional 15 hours of funded childcare provided that they meet certain eligibility criteria.  These hours will be provided from September 2017.

The provision of the 15 and 30 hours of funded childcare by Little Forest Folk Barnes is set out in the following sections. As a childcare provider, signing up to provide the additional 15 hours is voluntary. We always strive to provide the best childcare we can at affordable rates for parents so are happy to offer this.

POLICY AND PROVISION (I.E. HOW MANY HOURS CAN I CLAIM AT LITTLE FOREST FOLK?)

Little Forest Folk are registered on the London Borough of Richmond's Family Service Directory.

15 hours Universal entitlement

We offer the 15 funded entitlement hours funded by the Government as part of our sessional day and full day care, applied over 38 weeks (sessional day) or 51 weeks (full day) of the year.

We offer up to 570 hours per year, which equates to:

  • Sessional days: 15 hours per week for sessional days over 38 weeks;
  • Short days: 11.18 hours per week for short days over 51 weeks of the year;
  • Full days: 11.18 hours per week for full days over 51 weeks of the year.

 We apply a charge for the additional hours outside of the funded hours.

HOW DO THE FUNDED HOURS AFFECT MY NURSERY FEES?

Your Universal 15 hour entitlement will be provided free at the point of delivery. As per our policy, Little Forest Folk do, however, charge for the additional hours provided outside the entitlement hours funded by the Government (see our policy above for the provision of hours as part of full days).

The tables below detail our charges for the additional hours outside the Universal 15 hour entitlement for sessional, short and full day care.

30 hours per week of funded childcare

The total of 30 funded hours is provided for 38 weeks of the year, giving a total of 1140 hours per year. These hours per week are “stretched” across the 51 weeks of the year that we are open. Dividing 1140 hours by 51 weeks gives 22.30 funded hours per week.

Working parents wanting 30 hours of childcare per week are able to access their entitlement over 3 x 10 hour days. If your child is attending 30 hours per week your chargeable hours would be

30 hours – 22.30 = 7.7 hours per week.

Full days: 8am to 6pm, 3 x 10 hour days provided

Children who attend “sessional days” (ie from 9:30am to 3:30pm) are still able to access the 15 free hours per week (Universal entitlement) as part of our existing offering.

MY CHILD ATTENDS ANOTHER SETTING. CAN I CLAIM THE FREE ENTITLEMENT AT BOTH SETTINGS?

Only for the Universal 15 hour entitlement and as long as the combined total is no more than the hours set out in our policy. You must complete a Parental Contract form for each provider and you must declare the hours you are claiming at each setting.

We are not able to split the 30 hours between settings.

Free places for two-year-olds

Little Forest Folk also offer a limited number of completely free places for two year old children who meet certain eligibility criteria.  The child can continue to access these places following their third birthday.  We provide a maximum of two sessional or full days per week per child, as long as Little Forest Folk are the only recipient of the child’s free entitlement hours funded by the Government. These places are provided on a first come first served basis.
