Our Week in the Forest
What a wonderful week we've had in the forest! A number of our Little Forest Folk-ers are heading off to big school in the autumn so we have been preparing with lots of classroom set-ups and role play.
Early in the week we had a forest classroom where we took the register during snack time and wrote down everyone's name. When our name was called out we needed to say good morning, so the educators knew we were here. On a big chalkboard easel, we practiced our number and letter recognition, then had a chance to practice writing them on our own and helping each other with tricky ones. We've also been talking about transitioning to big school and had a teddy bear in their school uniform come to visit. They told us all about school and what to expect and how much fun they were having. We had a chance to talk about how we were feeling about moving on to a new setting and what we were excited or worried about. Even though our little ones will miss the forest they are really looking forward to learning in a new environment! βοΈπ
We've also been going on lots of imaginary adventures this week on the Wimbledon puppy bus! On Monday we found ourselves suddenly turned into puppies! It was fun running and playing, but then we remembered that puppies need food and care too. We talked about what puppies need to grow strong and healthy then ensured everyone had enough food and water. Then, the puppies were put in their puppy pens β¦ but they kept escaping! It was hard to round them up but we were really fast and clever, so we managed to catch them all. To keep the puppies out of mischief we all loaded onto the puppy bus and travelled all over the UK! We went to the beach, the park and the forest, learning about the different environments and what lived there. After each adventure we headed home to have a bath and a yummy dinner, then told each other bedtime stories before drifting off to sleep. πΆπΎ
