Wimbledon Village -ARRRRRRRRR pieces of eight!

Our Week in the Forest

Our intrepid explorers have had a super week, and after an unexpected indoor day due to the extremely high winds, we took to the high seas and had a week full of pirate adventures!

First thing on Tuesday we had to take in the debris left on camp after the storm of the day before - we were amazed at how much had come down and set about moving some of the bigger logs so that they did not interrupt play and so that we could use them at a later date!

Our forest pirates then set about creating their pirate ship and their very own treasure box! ARRRRRRRRR pieces of eight! And after a very naughty Pirate Porpoise Crabb whisked their amazing treasure box away our vengeful pirates followed, with a dropped treasure map in their hands! They ventured through caves and around desert islands to find the ‘X’ which marked the spot and then worked together to solve the problem of getting their stolen treasure down from the tree! They were amazing at working together as all good shipmates are! To celebrate the pirates grabbed their pieces of eight and took part in a Pirate Disco, singing shanty songs and rhymes to celebrate.

After our Inset day on Wednesday the theme continued, with children being given the opportunity to become pirates again, complete with hats and eye patches they got to paint their own pirate ships to take home. We stuck with the Zones of Regulation colour theme to keep discussing our feelings and thought about the feelings of pirates sailing across the seas to far off distant lands. Our wonderful pirate children had to climb the rigging, sing more songs and consider what pirates might have to eat on their travels.

Our explorers also enjoyed an adventure walk off camp, wearing their pirate hats and patches to play ‘Hunt the Mermaid’ out amongst the trees and to see what treasures we could find! It was a fun-filled, all-action, high-seas adventure, me hearties!

Here’s wishing all you land lubbers a wonderful weekend! See you next week!
