Wimbledon Village - Celebrations and Departures!

Our Week in the Forest

A momentous week for us at Little Forest Folk Wimbledon Village as we had the first wave of departures to mark the end of the sessional term. We celebrated all of our friends who are moving on to new schools and made sure they were waved off with pomp, ceremony and applause!

We continued with our theme of questions and made lots of time for conversation, which involved careful and active listening. One day we decided to go on a huge adventure walk for the whole afternoon, visiting the recently reinvigorated stream (thank heavens for the rain!) and taking some time to sit between the pine trees. The children tried a spot of ‘forest bathing’, which meant making a circle together among the trees, taking time to be quiet and thoughtful, and looking up towards the leaves overhead. After a couple of minutes of quiet we talked about what we saw, heard, smelled and felt and spotted a pair of crows who came to join us on a nearby branch.

We also experienced a lot of different weather this week! This was the perfect opportunity for children to use their question and answer skills to have conversations and talk about ways we play differently in different conditions.

We can’t believe it is officially the Summer break for all our sessional attendees and the end of an era for many of our children, who have been with us for quite some time now! We wish you all the best holidays, relaxing, camps, and family time, and of course we aren’t going anywhere, as our full dayers continue and we welcome back some happy holiday campers from next week! Have an incredible weekend and beyond….!
