Our Week in the Forest
Welcome back to the forest and the Twiglet Rock Band. We have had a fabulous week exploring and creating music.
One of our lovely forest Dads visited the nursery to give us some short lengths of metal pipe in various diameters. We strung up the pipes and then tapped them with sticks which elicited a clear bell-like sound. Some of our children were more robust in their action, creating more of a clanging sound. As well as this, songs were sung and dancing was enjoyed by all!
We created a stage from wood and boxes with a percussion area made up of wooden bowls, plastic boxes, pots and pans and pan lids. Rhythms were tapped out as we sang our songs, crashing and bashing our percussion instruments with glee and vigor.
We also had lots of fun creating our own guitars this week. Some were made with tissue boxes, kitchen paper, inner tube rolls and elastic bands whilst other guitars were made from blocks of wood, nails and elastic bands.
One educator played us some wonderful songs on a real acoustic guitar and he had a harmonica with him too! We sang all our songs, created some new songs and dipped into our favourite rock song “We Will Rock You”. Of course we had drums, maracas, jingle bells and a triangle as well.
Thanks for coming to the forest, see you again next time!
