Our Week in the Forest
World Book Day
We have had a wonderful week, the weather has been glorious!
We have been acknowledging birthdays as children turn 3, 4 and 5, as well as celebrating World Book Day and the educators and children have dressed up as their favourite characters. We had Matilda, Dorothy and the Scarecrow, a monkey, a vampire, 2 batmans, Little Miss Sunshine, 2 cats and many more in the forest! We read all the favourite books that the children had brought in, as we role played the stories and ran about the forest. The batman (x2) enjoyed painting pictures and then rushing off to save people, the cats meowed while gluing and sticking and the monkey enjoyed stepping up as a waiter during snack time and served his friends.
All week we have been celebrating literature. We have loved reading “The 3 Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf”... but have you read “The 3 Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig”? “Paddington Goes to the Palace” was a new book we really enjoyed reading too. Dr Seuss and his rhyming stories made our children laugh, The David Wiesner books “Tuesday” and “Mr Wuffles” are wonderful stories as they have very little written words within them but instead allow the story to be told by the child, as their vocabulary grows the story is different every time and the illustrations are glorious.
This week we have also been singing new songs as well as creating soggy blue and red porridge while pretending we are bears and trying to chase Goldilocks out of our home. We have had a central stage in the forest where we've hosted puppet shows, musical shows and rock concerts as well as enjoying acting out our favourite books.
Thank you all for coming to the forest. See you again next time.
