Another wonderful week at Little Forest Folk Wimbledon!
This week started off with some cooking and our budding chefs used some apples from one of our friend’s gardens to make an apple cake. We weighed out the ingredients, mixed them all together and then put it all in a pan to bake. It was great for everyone to taste what they had made and to also get to use a product that was fresh from our friend's garden!
We have also been lucky enough to cook on the open fire this week. With the help of one of our fantastic educators we made Bannock (a traditional Scottish bread recipe) and then put it onto sticks to cook over the fire. The children helped to collect the sticks for the fire and then held their dough over the heat until it was ready. Another delicious treat!
There have also been lots of crafty activities this week from making dragonflies using pipe cleaners and beads, to making wooden beaded necklaces. The children have chosen the patterns and colours they want, then worked to thread them onto string using their fine motor skills. It was a great way to put our skills into action and to also have an amazing craft to take home.
The week has been filled with lots of fun! We had the slackline out for climbing, lots of games with the parachute, a great adventure walk and lots of mud kitchen play. A wonderful Wimbledon week!
