Our Week in the Forest
The forest is a place for magic and adventure and this week that is exactly what it was!
The children put their forest knowledge to the test and created their own maps of the space they enjoy every day. We started by speaking about things we could see around us and then used our memory to draw things that we see on the walk-ins or adventure walks. This led to some incredible maps of the forest all through the eyes of our little explorers!
As the signs of spring slowly start to appear we have noticed some little daffodils poking through the ground and the children have become very protective of them! As a group they started working on a project to build a fence around them. The children collected various sized sticks and started putting them into the ground to make a circle around the flowers. They made sure the sticks were tall enough to stop people walking on them and made it clear to be careful around them. From this, our little adventurers also started using the sticks to create a bug hotel on the mole hills. Working out where to put each stick so that all the insects could find somewhere to live!
We have also spent lots of time on the obstacle course this week, adding new pallets and planks to make it even more challenging for each other. There has also been lots of mud kitchen play, using the rain as the main ingredient!
Such a fun week of exciting activities!
