Twickenham - Love is in the Air!

Love is in the air and the forest is beginning to wake up from its long sleep. The forest floor is covered in carpets of flowers. Delicate bells of snowdrops droop shyly among the bold purple colours of crocuses. The daffodils are in bud and so are the trees which is a sign that spring is on its way.

This week in the forest, we are exploring the feeling of love and we are talking about the people who are dearest to us. We have talked about our families and it is wonderful to discover differences that everyone’s families have, but also the similarities, in that those who are in our families love and care for each other. When our parents and carers go to work, they are showing they love us by working so we can have food to eat, a warm house to live in and lovely things to have. We realise that when we’re feeling nervous and sad, they help us to feel safe. We also talked about other important people in our lives like our friends, we realised we are very lucky to have the friends we have and we think of ways to make sure they know how much they mean to us. We had a fantastic idea of using our kind and gentle hands and words when we speak and play with them. We also practised listening to each other so our friends know that their thoughts are important too. We talked about the amazing things we love to do with our friends from riding our scooters in the park, sharing our toys with them when they come over for playdates and enjoying spending time with them in the forest.

We also learnt that it’s important to love ourselves too. We made some lovely portraits of ourselves using clay and materials from the forest. We found humour in how funny some of them looked! We thought about how we can take care of ourselves and some of our friends had a fantastic idea that we should eat lots of nutritious food so our bodies will grow but we should be careful to sit down whilst we eat so we don’t choke and hurt ourselves. Some of our friends suggested that we rest our bodies when we’re feeling tired or nervous by going to sleep or finding a quiet spot in the forest to look at the trees or the clouds. We also thought about how we can help our hearts feel happy - we can spend time with our families and friends and do the things we enjoy.

We’re feeling very happy and content to realise how many wonderful people we have in our lives who care about us and who love us.

We’ll be back next time with more stories of our adventures in the forest!
