Twickenham - Teddy Bear Picnic!

Welcome to the forest, we have had a wonderful week!

We have been exploring and naming our emotions this week as well as recognising emotions in others. We had a wonderful set up with mirrors and the children practised making sad faces, angry faces, sleepy faces (etc) in the mirrors, and they drew what they saw on sheets of paper. Some of our little ones took it further and created faces out of clay, some faces with smiles, some were grumpy and some looked angry.

We celebrated national vegetable day with a selection of raw veggies which we all tasted and nibbled on. The children were all very bold and tried everything, some liked the avocado best, others liked the raw mushrooms, we tasted sweet corn straight off the cob, raw broccoli, frozen peas, and raw onion. Only 4 children had a little nibble of the raw onion and stated that it was better if we cooked it. We agreed, you need to cook it long and slow and it becomes soft and sweet!

Our nearby Youth Club has been building a new skate boarding park and we were allowed to visit this week as the work was finally complete. We ran around, up and down the quarter pipes, and zoomed along the various slopes. We had lots of fun as we built up our running muscles.

We have read lots of stories, sang lots of songs, fixed our craft table with a little hammering, played with our sensory table exploring sand, water, coloured rice and even had a Teddy Bear picnic. We kindly invited our other soft toys too, our 2 toy snakes, 6 dogs and 3 monsters.

Thanks for coming to the forest, see you next time.
