Following the announcement of our Queen’s award in April, we are delighted to share an article written about Little Forest Folk by a journalist who visited us in May.
We’ve been bursting with excitement and now that it’s the Queen’s birthday and the official announcement day, we are absolutely delighted to finally share with you the news that Little Forest Folk has been given the royal seal of approval.
Following our being selected by Tatler as being one of the finest nurseries in the nation last month, we are now delighted to share with you an article written about Little Forest Folk by a journalist who visited us in our Wimbledon setting a few weeks ago.
Well, this weekend was the long awaited Nursery World Awards! It was a fabulous event and we were delighted to be recognised in such a large industry such as the early years to be one of the industry leaders.
‘Wouldn’t we all secretly like to be Little Forest Folk?' We are incredibly excited and proud to be included once again in the prestigious annual Tatler Nurseries Guide.
This week storm Gareth has done his best to stop our fun, but he hasn’t quite managed! On Monday, we had a blustery day at Paradise but still managed to get outside for a play and to cook some fruit on the fire. Tuesday and Wednesday were our ‘different days’.
Paint with all the colours of the wind. With the wind gaining strength midweek, it was thought best to give our forest some alone time and enjoy the sanctuary of our Scout Hut.
When you have a windy spring day, there is only one thing to do...build and fly kites! With Christie's help, our children have been very creative with resources in their kite designs - taking nappy bags and applying the material to their kites.
This week has been full of special celebrations, starting with Shrove Tuesday, followed closely by World Book Day and then a long-awaited message from Silvia one of our previous educators who is now travelling the world!
This week we celebrated pancake day by making our own pancakes! We talked about what ingredients we needed before counting out the scoops of flour, cracking the eggs and pouring out some milk into our own individual bowls.
We have really enjoyed the beautiful spring like weather this week. There was a wonderful moment when the children spotted the first spring butterfly of the year, calling out with excitement, "Look, a bright yellow butterfly!".
What glorious weather we have had this week! Beanies and gloves have stayed in our backpacks and the jackets have even come off to be replaced by vests.
With LGBTQ History Month being celebrated every February, we at Little Forest Folk have used the month to celebrate Love and its powerful presence in family life - regardless of how different each family may be.
What fun we have had for our half term holidays! It was so lovely to have some of our old Forest Folk friends return to play with us. Once reunited, friendships continued on as if no time had passed.
During our half term week, we have been so excited to welcome back some of our friends who left us for school in September. It was hard to tell who missed them more, the educators or the children!
It has been another delightful Holiday Camp during which we have welcomed back some of our old Little Forest Folk children and a few new faces during the week.
We’ve had a lovely week welcoming some new, and some past friends back into the forest. It’s always interesting to observe the change in dynamic when holiday campers come; often starting off a little shy, tending to stick together in the common knowledge of none of them having been before.
At the end of last week, our Little Forest Folk-ers had become pretty fascinated with a bird of prey that had perched in a high branch of a tree near their snack circle.
This week the children have been exploring the forest in new ways. The warm sunshine has finally shown itself again and the signs of spring are just beginning to appear.
