Our Week in the Forest
Welcome back to another weekly update from all of us at Little Forest Folk Morden! ⭐️
This week has been packed with fun, laughter and lots of learning. Continuing from last week, our focus was Personal, Social and Emotional Development and our adventurers got to explore a whole new set of exciting role-play areas and activities designed to nurture these skills. ⭐️
We kicked off the week with a crèche role play, complete with tiny log “babies” wrapped snugly in blankets. Our little ones instantly stepped into their characters, sharing the roles of mummies and daddies. These sessions are always so delightful to watch, as you get to see the children’s different interpretations, inspired by their own unique families.
Another highlight was our “Glee Club: Musical Performance” role-play. With red curtains and a wall of iconic Broadway posters, our adventurers created their very own theatrical story. Their production? Running a theatre where broken power lines sadly forced the show to close for… 200 months! Truly tragic news! Alongside the imaginative storytelling, the activity encouraged teamwork, communication and a whole lot of laughter. ⭐️
The fun didn’t stop there! Our adventurers also went on a classic bug hunt. Despite the slightly wet weather, they loved exploring the forest for creepy crawlies. Armed with DIY binoculars and a bug checklist, they discovered worms, snails and slugs, learning all about the tiny residents of our forest home.
We also embraced a messy and creative activity with apple stamping. Using halved apples, our friends created pages full of ladybugs, counting each dot to practice their maths skills. And because no messy activity is complete without a little extra fun, they also dipped their hands into paint to make handprint masterpieces - a wonderfully playful way to express creativity.
As we head into the weekend, we’re keeping a close eye on our plants. We’ve spotted a few early flowers and the children’s excitement has sparked our own anticipation for spring to finally arrive… only 48 days left! ⭐️
It’s been a week full of imagination, laughter and discovery, exactly what we love to see at Little Forest Folk Morden! ⭐
