This week’s focus has been expressive art and design, which has sparked lots of creativity and excitement in the forest at Little Forest Folk Morden. We kicked things off with large scale self-portraits. The children saw their photos taped onto big sheets of paper and were invited to draw the rest of their bodies. It was wonderful to see the colours they chose to represent themselves and how uniquely each child approached the activity. 🌈After all that adventure everyone cooled down with some waterplay under the hose and ran and splashed under misty rainbows together. 

This week of holiday camp has been so fun! Everyone was buzzing with excitement after their Easter Holiday weekend and we kicked the week off with adventure walks up to Cannon Hill Common where we played parachute games, smelled tulips and visited 5 new little ducklings in the pond! After all that adventure everyone cooled down with some waterplay under the hose and ran and splashed under misty rainbows together. 

We made our own paper flowers, carefully folded their petals and then placed them in water to watch them slowly open up like real blossoms 🌸 It was such a magical moment! During this, we also learned about photosynthesis and even picked up a new song: “If you want to know how a plant grows, it takes water, air and sunlight!” 🎶

Understanding the World, with an emphasis on exploring and responding to natural phenomena. It’s been the perfect opportunity to dive right into planting! Over the past few weeks, our little adventurers have loved this activity and were thrilled to get involved again. Our little ones carefully planted peas, beans, nasturtiums and pansies, brightening up our veggie garden in the process. 🐞

This week at Little Forest Folk Morden, we started our next focus: Understanding the World, with an emphasis on exploring and responding to natural phenomena. It’s been the perfect opportunity to dive right into planting! Over the past few weeks, our little adventurers have loved this activity and were thrilled to get involved again. Our busy week in the Morden forest saw some more spring preparation! 🦋 Our Little Forest Folk-ers have been hard at work planting some seeds and bulbs ready to let our wild flowers grow all over our favourite play space.

Our intent for the fortnight is maths and we have been including this in our set-ups and activities in the most fun ways possible. 🌸

Tuesday being World Wildlife day, we had a Safari Jeep with maps of Africa and our very own forest passports to travel with!

This week, our focus has been on literacy, particularly noticing print and developing an understanding of the five key concepts of it.

Our focus this week has been “Understanding the World,” and we’ve embraced it with curiosity & enthusiasm. With the first gentle signs of spring beginning to emerge in our forest it felt like the perfect moment to plant our very first seedlings; sweet peas. Using recycled toilet roll holders, our careful and capable adventurers thoughtfully planted each seed. 🌼

This week, we’ve continued focusing on our adventures in physical development. One exciting activity that kept everyone busy was filling a gardening tub with sticks collected from around the forest. Once the tub was full, the children pulled on a rope to hoist it up to the trees above them.

This week, we introduced a new focus for our fortnightly goal: physical development. This has been a fantastic opportunity to tailor activities around what our adventurers love most, using the forest environment to support and strengthen their fine and gross motor skills. ⭐️

This week has been packed with fun, laughter and lots of learning. Continuing from last week, our focus was Personal, Social and Emotional Development and our adventurers got to explore a whole new set of exciting role-play areas and activities designed to nurture these skills. ⭐️

Hello everyone, and happy Friday! We’ve zoomed, skipped, and adventured our way through another wonderful week here at Little Forest Folk Morden.

Hello & happy Friday everyone! This week at Little Forest Folk Morden has been a fully packed adventure, bursting with fun, laughter and exciting discoveries.

The children played together with drums, shakers and xylophones, introducing our instruments through the beginning of the week in our circle times and at the end of the week we tried forming a little band.

We've had a brilliant time in our last full week before Christmas! Our Morden Little Forest Folk-ers had a lovely time decorating pinecones for Christmas. Using pompoms and pipe cleaners, they turned natural treasures into colourful decorations. It was a simple, happy activity that combined creativity, fine motor skills and loads of communicative language while they played. 

Christmas Crafting has been non-stop in the forest! With our Expressive Arts and Design intent for this week we've been super creative exploring colours, textures and shapes through all of our play!  🎄

The festive spirit has definitely arrived at Morden this week. We’ve taken our focus of the week and added a touch of Christmas wherever we could 🎄

This week, with a focus on “understanding the world,” we’ve had the wonderful opportunity to learn about each other’s cultures and differences. It’s been amazing to see how this has helped everyone connect, appreciate the diversity around them and recognise both our similarities and unique qualities. ⭐️
