This week at Little Forest Folk Morden we were more than happy to welcome the rain. In fact, I think many of our adventurers had missed jumping in muddy puddles in the forest!
We were really inspired by the rain in many senses! The one we tuned into the most was musical instruments. This week, our little ones helped the wonderful Migs to make their own rain stick. Using their fine motor skills, they hammered nails into a long tube, which was then covered in duct tape to secure one of the open ends. Next, they poured in corn kernels and taped the other end shut. The result was perfect, it emulates the magical and calming sounds of rain, it has been really nice to help us all settle down during circle times.
✨ Another rain-inspired instrument was the rain drum, which was brought in this week and has become one of our favourite highlights. ✨
Our lovely adventurers have been bringing in their favourite books from home all week to focus on our intent of literacy. It’s been so nice sitting together and talking about our favourite books and seeing the excitement of reading spread through the forest. Su led an activity that fed into this intent, which focused on a handmade story picture book. This was a great activity as our little explorers had the opportunity to really release their creative sides and come up with stories revolving around the characters on each page. ✨
Such a fun-filled week we have had! We hope everyone also had a lovely week and we are excited for what next week has in store for us! ✨
