Hello Everyone & Happy Fourth of July! ✨
This week has been filled with fun activities & play, which has sparked lots of learning. Our intent of the week has been 'understanding the world through our people, cultures and communities'.
We started off our week with a fantastic new arrival to the forest, Misty the Canoe 🛶. Our adventurers were so excited for this new resource & they spent the whole week sailing across oceans to different countries & continents 🗺️. With each country they sailed to, it gave us the opportunity to talk in more detail about where we had travelled, which helped us learn more about different cultures.
To go along with the theme, one of our favourite activities has been the making of our own maps. Each Little Forest Folk-er traced out their own directions & then used tea bags to give it more of an old, rustic, magical feel. ✨
Another activity that captured our intent was the group creation of their own person. Our adventurers collectively chose their person’s name, gender & nationality “Her name is Florence and she is from Nigeria 🇳🇬 “.
Similarly, we all had great fun creating our own masks! We used paper plates, gems, tissue paper and ribbons to create our own faces, people and animals! “Mine is a cat” and “my person is happy!” They showed great sharing with the gems and pencils, creating some awesome masks! By the end of the day some were repurposed into fans to beat the heat! ☀️
We have now ended our week celebrating the Fourth of July & we hope you all have a lovely Friday & a great weekend! ✨
