Putney Heath - Bee Habitats and Fireworks

We hope you are all keeping cool in this warm weather! This week, our little explorers made the most of the sunshine while finding plenty of shade and refreshing fun in the forest.

The children sought cover beneath the leafy canopy and enjoyed endless water play to stay cool. From shady adventure walks, to cool drinks and splashing buckets, every day was full of laughter and relief from the summer heat.

Our Little Forest Folk-ers were busy making eco-friendly choices too! After reading 'Why Do We Need Bees?' they were inspired to create tiny bee habitat starters using recycled toilet rolls. The children loved the idea of helping our buzzing friends and proudly placed their creations around Putney Heath, hoping some local bees might move in soon.

The children also learned about the 4th of July and celebrated with festive songs about fireworks. They worked carefully to prepare a delicious strawberry and blueberry treat, cutting fruit, arranging shortbread and topping everything with dairy-free cream. This activity was fantastic for their fine motor skills - and even better for snack time! They also created vibrant firework paintings to mark the occasion.

Throughout the week, water play was a big hit. One day, the children rescued tiny toys from blocks of ice using tweezers - an excellent challenge for their fine motor coordination. Other days were filled with mud pies, scooping and splashing. One of the most exciting moments was when our little learners designed their own streams and rivers using tools, cardboard tubes and buckets. Their creativity and teamwork were simply incredible to watch.

What a fab week, hope you all have wonderful weekends!
