What an adventure-filled week we have had in the forest. The children’s imaginations carried us on journeys far and wide, filled with exploration, teamwork and plenty of outdoor fun.

It has been a fantastic week in the forest, full of creativity, teamwork and imaginative play as the children continue to settle back into routine after the holidays.

It has been so wonderful to welcome everyone back into the forest and kick-start the new year together.

children discussed the 8 days of Hanukkah and began making their potato latkes (a traditional Hanukkah treat). First, they shredded the potatoes, then the onion before adding a bit of flour, 1 egg and some salt. Then, they built and tended to the fire before firing off the potato pancakes! They were deeeeeelish! Shoutout to the little chefs!👨🏻‍🍳

We’ve had a truly wonderful week in the forest, filled with festive creativity, hands-on learning and plenty of seasonal excitement. 

What a memorable week it has been for our little learners, full of creativity, storytelling, teamwork and imaginative adventure across the forest and the clubhouse.

After a lot of interest in fairytales, our week began with a touch of magic as the children set out to create their own mystical wands. With excitement in their eyes, they gathered sticks scattered across the forest floor. Each child then selected vibrant strings and ribbons, wrapping them around the sticks with great care and creativity.

On Monday, the children began the day making clay imprints using shells. They carefully flattened and smoothed their clay before choosing objects to press into it, noticing the unique patterns and textures each shell created.

This week, the children dove into our brand-new theme - Oceans and Under the Sea! It has been a wonderful week full of creativity, exploration, and discovery as we learned all about marine life, the environment and the wonders of the water world.

This week, our Little Forest Folk-ers set sail on a series of exciting adventures, exploring everything from pirates and Bonfire Night to libraries and royal self-portraits. Their energy, creativity and curiosity filled every corner of the forest!

This week, our little explorers immersed themselves in a week celebrating All About England! From creative art projects and imaginative play to exciting outings and discoveries, the children were full of enthusiasm and curiosity as they learned more about English culture, landmarks and traditions.

On Monday, we started off the week with a wonderfully wet day in the forest. The children made the most of the rain, using water collected from the tarps for their epic mud kitchen creations.

What a fantastic week it has been for our Little Forest Folk-ers as we began our new learning theme, “Our Planet.” The children have shown so much curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm as they explored everything from ancient dinosaurs to the world we live in today. Their energy and imagination have made for a truly special week outdoors!

We began the week by thinking about something close to all our hearts - our families. Each child created beautiful handprint artwork to celebrate the people they love most.

Role play was buzzing throughout the week. Some children transformed the role play area into a cosy house where they looked after teddies and served tea, while others became doctors, handing out “strawberry medicine” to keep everyone healthy.

This week at Little Forest Folk Putney Heath was a journey into the world of feelings - not just exploring what they are, but helping the children understand why we have them, what different emotions can mean and what we can do when “big feelings” take over.
