Morden - Sweet Pea Tipi & Mathematics Fun

This week has been such a lovely way to see out what has been a very warm and sunny June! Our little adventurers have been enjoying the scent of their home-grown sweet pea tipi - it has blossomed this week with pink, purple and scarlet blooms. Having planted and cared for these seedlings themselves since February has really paid off for the children who have also been really hands-on with weaving the tipi shape. We’ve also been readying the garden with more planting of courgette and pumpkin seeds for the coming months!

With a focus on mathematics, the children also did a brilliant scavenger hunt. They searched the forest high and low for feathers, rocks, seeds, sticks and even their own home made gems, practicing their counting skills along the way. We’ve also made some lovely forest crowns and have been combining maths and science, with a focus on measuring equal parts, by making exploding volcanoes, self inflating balloons and following lots of tasty recipes in the mud kitchen!

The children have also had lots of really fun things set up to play with in the forest including a pulley-based set of scales slung over a tree branch, a theatre and also a favourite of the children's, a spa! We’re all looking forward to more fun and games next week!
