Our week
What a fantastic start to September! As the weather begins to change, we’ve pulled on our waterproofs and wellie boots, ready to embrace the autumn mud. Bring it on, autumn – we’re prepared for the fun and mess you bring! We’ve also been excited to welcome some new faces to our group this week. We’re so excited to be part of this new adventure with you all!
This week has been filled with excitement, creativity and lots of artistic flair at our camp! We kicked things off with one of our favourite activities – the sandpit tray. The children were busy running their very own restaurants, cooking up all sorts of imaginative dishes. From sandy pancakes and crumpets to ham sandwiches (some of which were very pricey!), the chefs practiced their understanding of money by setting prices for each creation. Who knew a ham sandwich could cost so much?!
We’ve also been honing our fine-motor skills and diving into colour exploration through painting. With so many paints to choose from, the children have been experimenting with mixing and creating new colours. Using butterfly stamps, they created beautiful swarms of butterflies on paper, each one unique. There were plenty of experiments, from mixing all the colours together to see what happens to trying out different shades of green and purple.
Later in the week, we shifted our focus to a very important topic: rubbish! The children got very excited about using our discovery kit for a scavenger hunt, where we explored how we can recycle and what happens to the things we no longer need. It was a great opportunity to talk about the environment and how we can all do our part to reduce waste and care for our planet.
Thanks to everyone for another amazing week! We can’t wait to see what next week holds and continue our journey of discovery and fun in the forest. the Forest
