Wimbledon Village - All things Halloween and Autumn

Our Week in the Forest

What a busy week we have had in the depths of Wimbledon Common this week!

We have been learning about all things Halloween and Autumn, which is perfect timing as we have experienced a significant change in the weather! Monday was torrential rain, Tuesday was warm and relatively mild, Thursday we got defeated by storm Benjamin with its baltic winds and so we resorted to our Plan B of staying inside and going out for walks - this did, however, provide us with the opportunity to fly our kites that we recently made in the forest, in a nice open area of the Common that we wouldn’t usually use!

We started the week with the site looking slightly different to usual on Monday morning, as the kind rangers had been in over the weekend to chop down some potentially troublesome trees from our site.

We have been looking at woodland creatures too this week and we had some images of hedgehogs that were missing their spikes and so we used leaves to stick onto the image to represent the spikes!

A highlight of the week was on Tuesday, when a “witch’s cauldron” was used to make a giant potion by a group of children! They found various artefacts and threw them in, ready to boil up and serve the wicked witch of the woods (AKA: Jamie).

We hope you have all had a great week and here’s to another fun week next week!

Have a great weekend one and all!
