Our Week in the Forest
What a wonderful week back in the forest!
The children played together with drums, shakers and xylophones, introducing our instruments through the beginning of the week in our circle times and at the end of the week we tried forming a little band. They listened to one another and made music as a group, enjoying the sounds they created together. It was brilliant to see our Little Forest Folk-ers so proud to perform for each other!
Another brilliant activity the children enjoyed was exploring the snow and ice, using their physical development to break up frost and frozen sheets and move materials around to create snowy scenes. They talked together about what they were doing, shared ideas and described the patterns they were making as they used food colouring to decorate the icy surfaces, developing their communication skills while watching the colours spread across the snow.
Everyone has been so resilient playing in the colder temperatures! The children can tell us when they've had enough time playing outside and have been dressing and undressing very independently. Having time inside and outside when it's cold is a great way to make the most of our great spaces!!
