What a great week we have had! Little Forest Folk Twickenham had their 6th birthday. We made a fabulous birthday banner and we enjoyed a delicious cake to celebrate.
Our learning theme this week has been museums and history. We had a fabulous art gallery in the forest where the children learnt about Pablo Picasso and created their own cubist portrait to hang from our branches. We also had some plain picture frames hanging in the forest and the children peeked through the frames to create real portraits.
We learnt about Piet Mondrian and his gorgeous, brightly coloured squares and stark black line art. We had a go at making some Mondrian art ourselves, but our colours became a little muddy as the green and red were combined.
The Greek Gods and Greek Mythology was an exciting topic too and the children learnt about Zeus, Athena, Poseidon and Ares etc. Crowns, tridents and bolts of lightning were all created from cardboard and Greek stories were acted out all over the forest.
As our summer draws to an end, sadly our older children are leaving the forest to go onto “Big School” but we are really enjoying welcoming our new children to the forest as new relationships are built.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
