What a fantastic week we've had in the forest! The sunshine stayed with us for much of the week, giving us plenty of opportunities to explore, create, and enjoy the outdoors together.
This week the children spent lots of time creating beautiful decorations. They carefully threaded beads to make colourful hanging ornaments and decorated wooden cookies with their own unique designs. It was wonderful to see their creativity, imagination, and fine motor skills shine as each child proudly made something special. Well done, Little Forest Folk-ers!
On our adventure walk we found that the grass sprinklers were on and the children couldn't resist running through the water! There were lots of giggles as everyone dashed in and out of the spray, getting wonderfully soaked while cooling off in the sunshine. It was a joyful way to embrace nature, and everyone had an amazing time!
Throughout the week, our forest ice cream shop was a huge success. The children loved taking on different roles as customers and shopkeepers, serving all kinds of imaginative ice creams while using stones as coins to pay for their treats. It was lovely to see their communication, turn-taking, and imaginative play develop through this activity.
The mud kitchen was as busy as ever! Our budding chefs prepared frothy cappuccinos for the teachers alongside some very imaginative "poisonous" soups made from mud, leaves, flowers, and other natural treasures. Their creativity and storytelling kept us smiling all week.
Another favourite activity was making and decorating graduation crowns. The children practised their cutting skills by trimming ribbons and string before collecting beautiful leaves and natural materials from around the forest to decorate their crowns. Every crown was unique and reflected each child's wonderful imagination.
We enjoyed a drama session where we explored different emotions together. Our little performers talked about a range of feelings, practised naming them, and confidently acted them out through role play and games. It was a lovely way to support emotional awareness while having lots of fun together.
It has been wonderful to see the children's confidence, creativity, resilience, and friendships continue to grow in the forest.
Thank you for another fantastic week in the forest. We hope you have a wonderful weekend, and we can't wait to welcome everyone back for more adventures next week!
