Chiswick - Mud Kitchen Fun and Volcanos!

We have had another wonderful week in the forest, even though it was a short one we still learned and had lots of fun!

In the mud kitchen, children brought their experiences and prepared healthy broccoli salad using leaves and lots of gorgeous flowers for Barbie baby. They did not add olive oil or seasoning because it hurts baby’s tummy!

During our adventure walk, we continued learning about flowers and their names as they are slowly decorating our forest beautifully, and we are now learning about wild flowers. 🌺🌸🪻We also got artistic during our flower printing activity using rolling pins and paint, our Little Forest Folk-ers produced some beautiful creations!

Our focus of learning this week was our numbers and letters. 🔤🔢 Our educators chose a creative spin on this and blended academics with fun seasonal activities. As we were learning about flowers and observing them, one of the activities was counting berries in a tree. Our little adventurers used their skilful fingers to put red coloured half cotton swabs into holes in the tree shaped cardboard. After that, they tried to recognise which numerals belonged to which numbers and matched them.

How can you write your name with sand?! On cardboard, we drew our names with glue and dusted with sand. The children really enjoyed touching and feeling the granule texture of the sand and whilst some of our younger explorers did an amazing job of exploring their first letters, some of our older children wrote their names all by themselves!

Our strong adventurers continued their building with large logs around the forest. They made a small boat to go to see Moana, which they all hopped on and sailed away!🛶 Obviously, it did not stay as it was until the end of the day! Later on, it turned into a garage where the children enjoyed some role play and parked lots of log cars in it.

On another day, our mud kitchen turned into a volcano scene! 🌋 all our adventurers were so excited and concentrated on how it was going to look. We used baking soda, vinegar and red food colouring to imitate a volcano eruption. One of our educators put the ingredients into a jug which was hidden inside a cone-shaped paper and the children observed and talked about the incredible reaction which followed.

Lastly, towards the end of the week we had the wonderful photographer Emma visit to shoot some gorgeous photos of our little ones. All of the children were amazing at posing for the camera! For any families who missed out on signing up, Emma will be returning next Wednesday so please do let them team know if you'd be keen to sign up!

What a fab week, we hope you all have a lovely weekend!
