–A Week of Forest Adventures!
What a wonderfully warm and sunny week we've had in the forest! With the temperatures rising, we've been making the most of the shade and staying cool with plenty of ice and water play. It’s been a fantastic opportunity for the children to explore self-care and body awareness - learning to apply sun cream, drink lots of water and understand how our bodies feel and respond in hot weather.
As part of our ongoing theme of patterns, the children have enjoyed weaving beautiful God’s Eyes, carefully wrapping yarn in rhythmic patterns around sticks. This activity not only supported their understanding of patterns but also gave them the chance to strengthen their fine motor skills. Continuing with the theme, we made colourful caterpillars using repeating sequences of red and blue squares - another fun and hands-on way to explore pattern making.
Our Little Forest Folk-ers have also been noticing and talking about the patterns they see all around them in nature - from the veins on leaves to the stripes on tree bark. Their observations are growing more detailed each day and it’s wonderful to see their excitement about the natural world.
We’ve also stayed cool by melting frozen dinosaur and animal figurines, using teamwork, tools and warm water to rescue them from the ice! It’s been a fun and sensory-rich way to beat the heat while sparking lots of imaginative play.
And of course, some of the tastiest highlights of the week were enjoying frozen melon lollies and making our own cold banana milkshakes - perfect treats for sunny afternoons!
🌿 A quick reminder: Next week is our Stay and Play Week, and we are so excited to welcome families into the forest. We look forward to sharing the magic of our days with you all!
Have a restful weekend and stay cool!
