This week has been full of sunshine, nature and creativity as we explored the changing season and found new ways to keep cool in the heat.
On Monday, we set off on a lovely exploration around the park. The children were excited to observe the birds and spot how much the little chicks have grown since our last visit. It was a beautiful opportunity to slow down, tune into nature and share our observations with one another.
Throughout the week, we continued our investigation into patterns and shapes. The children enjoyed noticing patterns around them - on leaves, in the clouds and in our materials. We also worked on creating our own, using a variety of natural and craft materials. Using coloured blocks, pebbles and paper, we created sequences and explored symmetry and repetition in playful, hands-on ways.
Our pulley system also provided endless fun and curiosity. Buckets were filled, lifted, and transported as the children worked together to understand the mechanics of movement and balance. This activity really encouraged collaboration, problem-solving, and lots of laughter!
As the temperature began to rise later in the week, water play took centre stage. Boats were launched, splashes were made and imaginations ran wild in our muddy rivers and mini-lakes. The children kept themselves cool and engaged while experimenting with floating and sinking.
To refresh ourselves even more, we made fresh lemonade - a delicious and sensory experience! The children squeezed lemons, stirred the mixture and enjoyed a well-earned, icy drink together.
It’s been a joyful week of learning and laughter in the forest, and we’re so proud of how the children have stayed curious, creative and connected with nature.
We look forward to more adventures next week, and hope to see lots of our families at our Graduation Picnic next Friday 18th July at Chiswick House & Gardens Picnic Land from 3:45pm - 5pm!
