Twickenham - Exploration, Colour and Joy!

Our Week in the Forest

This week we have embraced the sun, shade and all the joyous activities in the forest. The new children are all settling in, observing, continuing to explore more areas of the forest and tasting new meals.

This week we have been working on our physical development and focusing on both our gross and fine motor skills. We used the theme of construction, which transformed into transport, ironic considering the tube strikes! There has been lots of fishing, using tweezers and pegs to collect different objects, which sparked conversations such as our favourite colours. We’ve also used magnets to collect the pegs and on one occasion we even went to the Moon!

After so much zooming, our little adventurers were inspired to make their own rocket using blocks. They have also built farms and train stations and even decorated them with lots of wonderful finishing touches - the career inspiration continues at Little Forest Folk Twickenham!

In the mud kitchen, the highlight has been all about making pizzas and pretend pasta, which continued with smaller blocks. This has really helped develop all the new friendships in the forest too! I wonder what you like on your pizza?

Our craft table has continued to blossom and the children have embraced all the opportunities provided. Whether it's making a collage or putting beads on pipecleaners, the engagement has been exceptional and our little explorers have been very thorough when working on their masterpieces!

Our obstacle course has involved roads and the children have loved ‘driving their cars’ up and down the planks. They have also explored lots of different materials to see what they can push, pull, lift or carry.

To support our younger children’s sensory development we have combined creativity and sensoriality by exploring what we can do with sand and mini off-road driving in paint and gloop!

As usual, we have done lots of singing, explored so many books and encouraged conversations of shared likes and dislikes when we spot pictures.

Thank you for coming to the forest everyone!
