Our Week in the Forest
Fireworks and Bonfire Night have been the talk of the forest this week! The children have enjoyed so many activities based around creating colourful pictures of fireworks using different techniques. We have done straw-blowing painting, stamping, wax creations… so many things to explore the incredible colours and shapes of fireworks.
With it being Bonfire Night, the children all decorated a tea light with lots of colours, using wax crayons that would then melt into the candle. We lit them and watched as the colours mixed together creating something magical. Once they had melted enough, the wax was poured onto a piece of paper and our Little Forest Folk-ers could move it around the page to make different shapes. Each coloured candle made a different shade on different coloured paper which was great for the children to explore. Some of them had completely changed colour and others had flecks of colour in them, making each picture exciting and unique!
Little Forest Folk Wimbledon have also been talking about families this week and what better way to use the abundance of leaves in the forest than to make family portraits out of them! The children chose different leaves to represent each member of their family, all different shapes, sizes and colours. We then stuck them onto paper and named each member, decorating them with bright colours and patterns. It was a lovely way for everyone to show off their families and discuss what makes everyone unique!
A big mix of activities this week showing off the children’s creative sides and exploring different art techniques. We’ve had lots of fun bringing colour and sparkle to the forest!!
