Our Week in the Forest

As the clouds descend over the Common, now is a great time to reflect on the success of our first week of summer holiday camp!

We have enjoyed seeing some of our regular campers return for more adventures, whilst also welcoming some new faces into the “bosom of the trees”.

We know that older children bring more energy to camp, and so we planned to channel this energy by taking them on long adventure walks into the depths of the common! On Tuesday, Jamie led the adventure and our aim was to collect blackberries to take back to camp, and then wash and eat them for snack! We stopped off for some tree climbing, and looked under some giant logs for some bugs as well! We finally returned to camp about an hour and a half later, ready to wash the berries for snacktime.

Paula led the charge on Wednesday and again a nice long distance was covered, including a visit to the “bear woods” where we searched for big grizzly bears, but luckily they weren’t home! Our Little Forest Folk-ers also found a brilliant “dragons nest!” This led to discussions about how it could have possibly got there!

Back at the camp, we have been using the rain for water play, using our guttering and wooden stands to transport water into the tuff tray to play with!

We hope everyone has had a week as fun as ours and we look forward to seeing you all next week!
