Winkworth -The Hogwarts Express all the way to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Our Week in the Forest
Another magical week has gone by in the forest and we have had heaps of fun working on our collaboration and team work!

We started the week learning all about beavers, which the children were fascinated by. With the help of a blue sheet and lots of imagination, we all worked together to construct our own dam. It was so cosy that after hauling branches in the morning the tired beaver adventurers made up some beds for their dam and had a restful lie down in the afternoon.

Reinvigorated, we had a trip to the highlands where we painted our own tartan with blue and red paint onto donated pillow cases. They made the perfect kilts for our competitors to take part in our Highland Games. There was log rolling, a tunnel race and a bucket carrying competition. Our Little Forest Folk-ers were so good at working together to carry the heavy buckets to the end point. It was also the anniversary of The Tiger Who Came to Tea and we couldn’t miss the chance to bring the story into our mud kitchen and get out our tiger face paint. Our little tigers greatly enjoyed drinking all the water out of the tap and eating all the cakes out of the tin. They were voracious!

Later in the week we had an exciting trip on the Hogwarts Express all the way to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The little ones attended potions class and mixed up all sorts of interesting concoctions. They made magic wands in charms class, sculpted ferocious gargoyles for the Whomping Willow and chased down the golden snitch on our own  top of the range Nimbus 2000.

We ended the week in China, with the bracken making the perfect calligraphy tool as we practiced our own symbol making. Next we built our own Great Wall, making it tall with sprawling bracken shoots. The wall became a maze to dribble a football through and inspired lots more loose parts creation, like a tyre seesaw. The children showed us their skills, working together to carry the long sticks and move the tyres. We love it when a project comes together!
