Winkworth - Little Forest Folk Hairdressers and All Things Farming

Our Week in the Forest

If you have been to Little Forest Folk Winkworth this week then you would have seen a real hive of activity. We have been exploring all different types of occupations!

This week we have had our very own hairdressing salon. This has seen our Little Forest Folk-ers having lots of fun with some hairdressing role play. We also did some chopping of some bracken that was too long in our garden.

As well as this, we have been down on the farm - the sensory tray was a big hit with a variety of different animals and sawdust. Here the children were playing with the animals as well as introducing some tractors to scoop up the sawdust. They have also helped to clear an area in our garden so that we can start growing our own vegetables, using the rakes and the wheelbarrows and making sure that all the waste went into the compost.

What fantastic vets they made too. They handled all the different soft toy pets with such care - checking their heartbeats, giving them medicine as well as using some masking tape as bandages for the large and the small animals. They enjoyed mixing all sorts of medicines for them in the mud kitchen pharmacy as well as driving them around in the ambulance. The X-ray unit was in full swing too as they used the cameras to take pictures of the animal’s bones with some examples to look at for reference.

We have also had some little construction workers on site. There were lots of tyres, wood, pipes and lots of other spare parts for them to build with. Lovely team work was displayed as well as problem solving.

At the end of the week our little adventurers became teachers. They had a big black board to write on so the class could see. They also had lots of different areas to use around the forest space such as the art area for drawing, writing corner to practice writing some letters, maths corner for numbers, geography area to gain more understanding about the world, music area and much much more!

Another excellent week, we hope you all have a fab weekend!
