Morden - Morden Gardeners and Rainbow Nutrition!

Our Little Forest Folk-ers have been super busy this week and they all definitely deserve a well-rested weekend!

The week started off with our troopers relaying what they’ve seen at our fire circles, followed by having a go at making one themselves. They were able to gather sticks and find the perfect tire to build their fire. Don’t worry though, because they were making sure to read their all the fire manuals beforehand to be sure everything and everyone was safe. “Remember, remember to walk around the edge”.

Throughout winter we have watched our little purple flowers continuing to grow & thrive. So we thought it was the perfect time to plant them just in time for Spring. Maria, alongside lots of helpers, cleared away a lovely spot where they could dig some holes to place the flowers. There were discussions of the flowers’ roots and “how do they grow?” and our Little Forest Folk-ers got a little more of an insight into why our plants, flowers and trees are so important.

Finally, the children helped Caitlin make a wonderful nutritional rainbow, to remind us to “eat the rainbow”. Fruits and Veggies are a big part of what we eat in the forest, so making a visual of this was a super fun and exciting way for our little adventurers to see and learn about all the goodness that comes from them. Additionally through this they were able to practice their colour recognition by identifying where on the rainbow each fruit/veggie should go “ tomato goes on the red one because they are red”.

We have been so lucky to have such a lovely week, we hope the same for your weekend too!
