Hello everybody, we hope you’ve all been enjoying the sunshine just as much as we have! It’s been on the hot side of summer this week but nevertheless the children have come in with bright attitudes and they have definitely all earned a relaxing weekend, maybe with some ice cream!
This week we have had plenty of water play to keep the little ones nice and cool. The beginning of the week started with our colour mixing lab, plenty of colourful water cups to combine and make spells! The children did a great job sharing and working together to make their experiments. In alignment with our intent for the week, we had an activity where they were able to practice making plaits with yarn, they spoke about the colours they had and even made up stories for the people they were braiding!
Throughout the week, our Little Forest Folk-ers have enjoyed our new sprinkler! The refreshing water allowed them to run around and play whilst staying nice and cool, as well as having a good laugh along the way! We had some great music playing so the children could really get into their summery attitudes. They were able to express what kinds of watery games they wanted to play, as well as letting their friends know when they didn’t want to get splashed! Everyone has been so lovely playing together and making sure to listen to each other’s boundaries.
Caitlin also led some sun printing! Using spinach and turmeric, our little adventurers made a dye to print with leaves and flowers, before leaving them in the sun to dry and produce some beautiful artwork. The children loved this activity and taking advantage of how bright the sun has been was a great idea! We also had some clay monster making where our little ones sat around a table all together and made their own monsters with googly eyes. The children were helping each other to add smiles and write their names on the back, it was great to see their teamwork!
It’s been a lovely, warm week in the forest and we hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Make sure to stay nice and hydrated! We can’t wait to see you for our next adventure. Happy summertime!
