Winkworth - Clapping and Tapping,  Wiggling and Jiggling, Drumming and Humming in the Forest

Our Week in the Forest

This week we have been clapping and tapping,  wiggling and jiggling, drumming and humming and generally having a good old jive. We have enjoyed exploring all of our songs while practicing tapping out a rhythmic beat…

The garden has hosted our very own stage for our little forest folkers to perform their favourite numbers. The children especially enjoyed playing some imaginary drums and keyboard. We do love some rock and roll! Our music wall has also been a hit as children have explored making different sounds with their friends.

We’ve also loved bringing some of our favourite songs to life. We had an ooozing swamp of chia seeds for our 5 little frogs on a speckled log. What sensory fun we had as the children scooped up the slime and discovered lizards and frogs hiding underneath.

On another day we explored 5 Little ducks who were busy swimming between our tuff trays from the blue pond to the yellow pond. It was exciting to see what would happen when we mixed the water together!

We followed up talking all about our favourite wiggles song, Hot Potato! It was the ideal time to do some potato stamping and have fun with some sensory spaghetti.

And our favourite activity this week was definitely making our own bird friendly biodegradable shakers with oats and recycled toilet tubes. The children gave us such a good show playing their instruments before taking them home to feed the birds in the garden. And with the rain, Winkworth wouldn’t be Winkworth without a muddy puddle jumping adventure to round off the week!
