Winkworth - Bugs, Beetles and Bird Watching!

Our Week in the Forest

It’s been another wonderful week in the forest at Winkworth!

We started our week off appreciating fire fighters and taking time to think about how important their jobs are in keeping us safe. Our Little Forest Folk-ers had great fun using some water spreaders to put the painted fire out against a tree. They also enjoyed some shape, number and colour work as they stuck squares of fire colours to a flame on some paper, as well as creating some wonderful pieces of art work with paints inspired by flames.

We also went for a walk to the stream, but not before we made some willow fishing rods! With their rods at the ready the children lowered the lines in to the stream to see what they could catch. There was fish both big and small and some even say they saw a shark! 🦈.

At the end of the week, we celebrated the fantastic Sir Attenborough’s 100th birthday. With our identifying sheets at the ready, we headed out in search of all the different bugs and beetles we could see. With some of our little explorers also bird watching using the binoculars so they could see high up in the trees. We also all enjoyed some fun and arty crafts with butterfly making as well as some caterpillar themed activities too!

Everyone had a great time in the forest and we can't all wait for more adventures next week.
