It’s a sad time for us in the forest this week as many of our older children leave for the summer holidays before heading off to big school. We have had a great time making memories and playing with friends. We were all very excited to have some early holiday campers join us too who have been with us previously and so we enjoyed being reacquainted with them.

Our crafty table was a hub for squishing and making prints and marks in clay using sticks, stones, dinosaur feet, pine cones, textured rolling pins and wooden blocks like cubes, pyramids, cylinders, pyramids, triangular prisms etc. Armed with our 3d shapes we also used them to dip into paint and then we printed them onto paper. It was surprising how one side of a 3d block printed a certain shape.

We created treasure maps and used gems and jewels as well as pens and paint to convey where our treasure was hidden. We used our large tape measures to measure our height. The length of our feet, the distance from one tree to another and so on. We have a beautifully painted giraffe in the forest and we measured ourselves alongside her to see who might be taller than her but none of the educators were that tall.

We dressed up as superheroes, doctors, butterflies, and princesses. We enjoyed getting our faces painted, and we played hide and seek with our numbers 1-10.
