Wimbledon - Incredible Rockets to Setting up Forest Farms!

Our Week in the Forest

This week, we explored space, farms and rabbit dens - the children had an abundance of activities to get stuck into! From creating incredible rockets to setting up forest farms, our explorers have been immersed in learning through play.

We’ve had meaningful conversations about harvest time and where our food comes from - learning about planting, growing and how food makes its way to the shops. One highlight was planting herb seeds in our very own mini greenhouse. These can be kept over the winter, giving us a chance to observe their growth and eventually use them in our mud kitchen creations!

Another favourite was our "Café-Neigh", part of our farm-themed setup, where the children made mud kitchen drinks using items inspired by animals on the farm. 🐴🥕🍼

We have loved spotting the huge mushrooms around the forest this week. There’s one big patch on our walk in and each day we've observed how many there are, their colours and whether they're changing shape - a brilliant exercise in mindfulness and observation.

Oh - and did we mention the alien invasion? 👽 The forest was visited by aliens and we went on a space adventure! We ran a science experiment to make the gas of Venus using vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, made alien costumes with tin foil and even travelled through space in our very own rocket ship!

From learning about different places and professions to exploring the natural world around us, our explorers have been unstoppable this week. It’s been educational, imaginative and truly out of this world! 🌌✨
