This week, our focus has been on art and creativity, with our little ones enjoying a wide range of activities designed to develop their early mark-making skills. The older members of the group especially loved taking part in some exciting large-scale art projects.
Together, everyone worked as a team to create their very own Colour Monsters. Throughout the week, we painted a yellow monster to represent feelings of happiness, silliness, and excitement, a blue monster to explore sadness, and a red monster to represent anger. These collaborative projects not only encouraged creativity, colour recognition, and early mark-making but also gave us lovely opportunities to talk about emotions and help the little ones recognise and express how they are feeling.
With the warm weather continuing, our icy sensory play was a huge hit! The little ones had so much fun digging through the ice, breaking it apart, and rescuing the animals hidden inside. It was wonderful to watch their curiosity, problem-solving, and teamwork shine through, and it quickly became one of the week's favourite activities.
Our creative adventures continued as our Little Forest Folk-ers designed and decorated their own masks, extending their mark-making skills while inspiring imaginative and pretend play.
We have also loved introducing our new morning adventure walks. Small groups have been setting off to explore different areas of the woodland before enjoying their snack together in special places such as the Train Tree and the Little Pigsty. These peaceful moments have been a lovely opportunity to build confidence, encourage conversation, and enjoy the beauty of nature together.
The Dino Den has been another popular spot this week! Our little adventurers have worked brilliantly together to expand their den using a variety of sticks before putting their balance, coordination, and confidence to the test through tree climbing and adventurous play.
We rounded off the week by working together on a special group graduation project, creating something meaningful to celebrate the wonderful journey our graduating little ones have shared with us.
