Wimbledon Village - Thunderstorms & Play Dough Disco's

A week in when the sun brought thunderstorms, our moods were not dampened as we continued our forest fun for another week!

We started this week with an activity that was a continuation of a particular interest. We created our own characters from the popular story “Supertato!” We had our very own broccoli, carrots and potatoes which we created accessories for to make them look like the characters in the story, and their aim was to escape the wrath of the evil pea! Children loved bringing this book into their role play, needless to say this provided them with endless opportunities to scaffold this activity into whichever further activities they would like.

We continue to make our own compost using food waste from the kitchen, and the children have done a great job with helping us to keep on track with what does and doesn’t need to go into our compost bin.

This week we also looked into what a “Playdough Disco” is. This comes with a continuation of the children’s interest regarding malleable materials. A Playdough Disco is where the children have to squish, press and squeeze the playdough to the beat of the music being played! This proved very popular, and the children did a fantastic job at turn-taking!

Have a great weekend one and all!
