Our Week in the Forest
It has been a week of calm and relaxation at Wimbledon this week. The children have enjoyed time to sit and watch the forest around them, using a very comfy hammock as a resting place. It was lovely to see them swing slowly as the leaves blew around them and they could have 5 minutes of calm in the middle of the forest.
We have also spent time looking at space! Our Little Forest Folk-ers looked at star maps, connecting them together to make a route to travel around space. Using different pens and lots of colours, they made their own maps, studied them carefully and then set off on an adventure!
Some of the children also headed off to rainbow planets in their spaceship, using old walkie-talkies and keyboards to check their route!
The children have also spent time looking at different shapes this week. We created a big board with various shapes and shape names on it, then made smaller versions to match up to the bigger ones. We got familiar with the names of the shapes and even began to learn about 2D and 3D shapes.
There has also been a lot of mud kitchen play, using different items from around the forest to add to our cooking. We have added pinecones, willow sticks and mud to create some delicious meals.
Another wonderful week in the forest, full of fun and excitement!
