What a glorious week we have had in the forest full of sunshine, smiles and stunning views in the Arboretum. Although it has been sunny we have found lots of ways to keep cool during the week!
We have had some lovely water play, using the watering cans. We started off by watering our vegetables that are growing and then we went onto watering the other plants around us and then watering ourselves down to keep ourselves cool.
Everyone had fun down at the carwash. There was lots of soap and cloths to wash all the cars down before popping them through the car wash, it was great to hear the variety of language our little explorers were using like ‘washing the wheels down’ or ‘making them shine’. This was a great role play activity with lots of teamwork and fun!
We have been rescuing lots of different bugs and animals from the ice. Our Little Forest Folk-ers were enjoying cooling down by feeling the ice on their hands. They showed great problem solving skills by working out how to get the animals out. One thought was to bash them with a stick and whilst some ice came off, it was not as effective and we’d hoped. Then we discussed how ice melts, some of our adventurers thought to rub the ice with their hands, while others tried putting the ice out in the sun to melt. All bugs and animals were rescued by the end of the day!
In the late afternoon we went out on an adventure. There is a big fallen Oak tree which we believe to be many years old. We have all been using our gross motor skills to climb up and pretend to be a lion at the end and let out a big ‘roar’!
Everyone helped to chop some bananas which we then put in the freezer. In the afternoon we made a lovely banana lolly to help keep us cool, what a yummy treat!
Hope you have all been enjoying the lovely sunshine, and have a wonderful long weekend!
