We’ve been bursting with excitement and now that it’s the Queen’s birthday and the official announcement day, we are absolutely delighted to finally share with you the news that Little Forest Folk has been given the royal seal of approval.
Following our being selected by Tatler as being one of the finest nurseries in the nation last month, we are now delighted to share with you an article written about Little Forest Folk by a journalist who visited us in our Wimbledon setting a few weeks ago.
Well, this weekend was the long awaited Nursery World Awards! It was a fabulous event and we were delighted to be recognised in such a large industry such as the early years to be one of the industry leaders.
‘Wouldn’t we all secretly like to be Little Forest Folk?' We are incredibly excited and proud to be included once again in the prestigious annual Tatler Nurseries Guide.
We started our week off with a trip to Gifford’s Circus! We were incredibly excited, especially as we had been hearing noises from the circus after lunch every day last week and had seen the circus horse out on his morning stroll through the forest.
Although we did not have a single drop of rain this week – water was our main theme in Barnes! Children had lots of fun with various water play activities and our sprinkle bottles were very popular.
This week has been another scorcher in the forest, but the play has remained very cool! The children’s desire to construct tools was still strong this week, so with some help from the educators, they were able to take that passion to the next step!
With kind and gentle hands and a listening ear, the Little Forest Folk of Fishponds Wood showed that they were the most effective and practical doctors, especially considering their primitive instruments for helping their poorly patients!
You may have seen that Little Forest Folk Chiswick recently had an Ofsted inspection, grading us as Outstanding, in which the inspector commented ‘Children thrive in this nursery. They gain a superb understanding of early literacy and mathematical skills’.
What a magnificent week we’ve had in our sunny forest. The Little Forest Folk-ers had great fun Sailing the Seven Seas (or Fishponds!) at the start of the week, with lots of complicated knot tying being done to make the pirate boats ship shape.
The temperatures have been high this week and so have the spirits of the children! The sun has clearly brought out some creative vibes within the children because they have been engaged in artsy activities of all kinds.
It’s been a challenge this week with the soaring temperatures to keep everyone staying cool and fresh in the forest so we decided to turn our setting into a ‘rainforest’, literally!!
With such glorious sunshine, we have been enjoying an abundance of adventure walks. One morning was spent in the allotment picking up the tiny apples to help the gardeners with this "bothersome" chore.
The children have enjoyed the fabulous summer weather that has continued throughout this week. They have walked through the meadows, along the river and through the woodland areas exploring different habitats and engaging in some brilliant group projects.
As we walked across the field along the wild banks the children have been investigating the ever changing wildlife that can be found amongst the nettles, cow parsley and green alkanet.
This week we have made full use of Chiswick House and Gardens with a wide range of activities and adventure walks; from exploring the secret path by the waterfall to the cricket field for games and races.
Some of our intrepid little adventurers have returned from Little Forest Folk Tuscany and have been excitedly telling others of the things they had done.
Laughter, happiness and fun have filled the air this week at Little Forest Folk Wandsworth. As the weeks roll on, a real sense of family and connection has connected the group into the tight unit that they are.
What a practical week it has been for our Little Forest Folk-ers. Almost every day we have had different tools out for the children to use, all in the preparation of their own toys!
We have been exploring more of Chiswick House and Gardens this week. The children have enjoyed long walks into the forest every morning and stopping to spend some time at the rolling hill and fish pond.
