Our Week in the Forest

Hello everybody! We hope you’re all having a good week despite the unpredictable weather 🌦️

This past week at Little Forest Folk Morden, our focus for the little ones has been literacy! Through a range of fun and engaging mark making activities, we practiced our writing which supported the children in their fine motor skills and practicing holding our pens and pencils in a tripod grip! One of the favoured activities was our tracing. Using pencils and tracing paper our little explorers traced book characters onto paper. This allowed them to practice following their lines in a fun way! ✏️📚

Another activity we had to support our writing was staircase writing! We wrote down the children’s name and removed one letter down the paper until they had to write their full name themselves. This helped to encourage the children to recognise their own letters and also start to understand the difference between normal and capital letters! ✍️📮

It’s been a lovely week in the forest full of muddy puddles and fleeting sunshine! We hope you all have a good weekend everyone! ☀️
