Fulham - Sparkling Imaginations, Magic Wands and Curious Minds

This week we stepped into Fairyland! With sparkling imaginations, magic wands and curious minds. We embraced a magical theme whilst developing literacy skills. We practised phonological awareness, such as spotting rhymes and identifying the same initial sounds. From going on a mission to find the fairies to tackling the Most Impossible Question, this wonderful wild weather week led us to secret spots in the forest and even into some of the palace’s oldest hidden rooms where we found shelter because nothing will stop our adventures!

We began our fairy journey in the most enchanting place possible: the marvellous Bishop Tree area. What better setting for a magical week? Together we read The Magic Faraway Tree and soon discovered that Silky the fairy was missing… and so were the letters on camp! The children were determined to solve the mystery, working together with fantastic focus and teamwork.

To help us on our quest, we used a special coding map, following symbols and hieroglyphics that represented each letter. The children carefully searched, decoded, and matched the clues, building confidence with letter recognition and early reading skills along the way. There was so much excitement every time a new letter was found - our Fairyland detectives did an amazing job!

We also brought Fairyland to life through creativity. The children made beautiful magic wands using wool and magical resources, and created woodland creatures using sticks, leaves, clay, and stones. Camp was soon filled with tiny forest beings, spells, and stories, as the children used their imagination to invent characters and adventures of their own.

What a wonderful week, we can’t wait for more adventures next week!
