Chiswick - Autumn Transformation in the Forest

Our Week in the Forest

What a wonderful week in the forest filled with excitement and adventure. This week has been all about creativity, imagination and fun in our beautiful forest setting.

We welcomed the change in season by diving into the wonders of autumn. The children were fascinated by the transformation happening all around them, watching the leaves fall gently from the trees and collecting them in all their different shapes, colours and textures. We explored how some leaves are crisp and crunchy, others soft and smooth and how each one tells a little story of the season.

Using their growing collection of natural treasures, the children continued their beautiful work on picture frames of their families, carefully crafting them from twigs and autumn leaves. With such focus and care, they pieced together frames, decorating them with their favourite leaves to create heartfelt artwork. It was a joy to hear them proudly chatting about their families as they worked, showing such thoughtfulness and love in each creation.

Art continued to bloom through leaf printing, where the children pressed their chosen leaves onto paper to reveal the intricate vein patterns and outlines. Their excitement at seeing the prints emerge was infectious and the prints themselves were stunning, each one a unique celebration of nature’s detail.

Midweek brought a burst of energy and laughter with our fancy dress day! The forest was filled with superheroes and mechanics, racing through the trees, fixing humongous trucks and teaming up for epic adventures. Capes flew, tools clanked and imaginations ran wild in a truly joyful day of role play.

There was also plenty of time for sensory exploration, especially in our sand play area. Where the Little Forest Folk-ers built shelters for their animals incorporating leaves and twigs into their dens. They loved being able to use their hands and the resources from their environment to make beautiful habitats for their animals.

Among all the excitement, we also took time to slow down and connect with the natural world around us. Whether swinging on the swing or sharing quiet conversations beneath the trees, the children found moments of calm and wonder throughout each day.

It’s been another magical week in the forest filled with learning, creativity and a deep connection with nature, with each other and also with themselves. We are so proud of how our Little Forest Folk-ers continue to explore the world with open hearts, curious minds and endless imagination.

We can’t wait to see you next week!
