Our Week in the Forest
We’ve had a truly wonderful week, full of sunshine, creativity, exploration and meaningful shared experiences.
We began the week by making the most of the lovely sunny weather with a trip to the playground. The children were full of energy as they explored climbing frames and practised their balancing skills. There was lots of imaginative play too - especially in the sandpit and on the pirate ship, where stories and adventures came to life through teamwork and creativity.
Back at camp, we enjoyed a calm and creative morning. The children went on a little nature hunt and were very excited to find some huge pine cones. These became the focus of our craft session, where our Little Forest Folk-ers carefully decorated them with paint and added their own hand-drawn flowers. It was lovely to see their creativity and attention to detail as each pine cone became unique.
We slowed things down midweek with a cosy and engaging story session. The children listened beautifully as we read a story about a giant named Finn, followed by the classic tale of Snow White. There were lots of thoughtful moments, questions and conversations as the children shared their ideas and reactions to the stories. Later, one of our parents joined us to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, dressed in a fantastic leprechaun costume. The children loved dancing together and were very excited to learn fun ways to “catch a leprechaun,” sparking lots of laughter and imaginative play.
We also enjoyed the sunshine going out for a peaceful walk to the meadow, enjoying the fresh air and open space, while others stayed back to take turns on the swing. Tree climbing was a popular activity too, helping build confidence and physical skills. Meanwhile, the mud kitchen was full of imaginative role play, with children working together to “cook” a variety of creative dishes for one another.
We ended the week with some very special celebrations and shared experiences. Another lovely parent introduced us to Eid by reading a story, bringing in delicious dates for the children to taste. Later in the afternoon we created beautiful lanterns using tissue paper while we were talking about Eid.
The children also had the opportunity to try needle felting, carefully making their own little bunnies.
Thank you all for contributing to such a rich and joyful week. It’s been wonderful to see the children learning, exploring and celebrating together.
