Bannock bread on the fire, sawing pallets to make nail art and adventure walks to the frog pond - just some of the exciting things the children at Little Forest Folk Wimbledon have been up to this week!
The children have been lucky enough to have lots of fires recently and we have all enjoyed taking part in cooking lots of different things. One of the delicious treats we’ve cooked up again this week was Bannock, a type of bread made on the fire. The children love the independence of putting the mixture onto their sticks and holding it over the heat until cooked. Then we of course all enjoyed eating the delicious treat as a snack!
There has also been some fun tool work projects happening, which has been a lot of fun for everyone! With the help of our excellent educators the children were able to saw some of the pallets into smaller pieces and then practice their hammering with some nails to make arty displays. They wrapped some string around the nails to make different patterns, from stars to diamonds.
We have also been on adventure walks to the nearby frog pond to see what creatures we could find. The children spotted water snails and we took the opportunity to carefully touch their shells. We also looked at what they were eating and how they were moving across the water and used lots of fun descriptive words to discuss what we’d seen.
It has been a busy week with lots of fun!
We have had a lovely summer and we can’t wait to see our sessional friends return next week!
