Chiswick - Dancing, Running and Lots of Adventure Walks!

It has been a very cold week this week, but we kept ourselves nice and warm with hot milk and being very active; dancing, running and a lot of adventure walks in the forest!

One morning, children decided to go to the pond as they wanted to check if it was still frozen or not. Some of them have been showing their growing leadership skills and great geography knowledge of the park, leading the way, and helping the educators with the headcount. When we got there, we found out the pond was still FROZEN!! Children found sticks and knelt down to touch the ice plates with them. We also saw them helping each other to find nice long sticks! One educator who was wearing waterproof gloves, took a big icy plate out of the pond and everyone enjoyed smashing it into small pieces. Our adventurers also had great fun throwing the ice into the pond. Some ice was very thick and hard, so throwing didn’t even break it!

At camp, the children enjoyed making kites, which is a traditional winter activity in one of our educator’s home country, Japan. Children collected two sticks, made a cross and tied them with strings. They then attached it to a piece of newspaper with masking tape. They also chose colourful ribbons to decorate the kite and added a long string and a handle. Some of them wrote their names or signatures on their kites too, which was very impressive! We then went to the meadow to try flying the kites 🪁 It was a bit tricky to keep them in the air, but some of our explorers figured out that rotating themselves helped. Everyone was very excited to see their kite fly like a bird!

Have a good rest of the week, everyone😊
