–A Week of Forest Adventures!
What a week it's been! Despite strong winds and heavy rain at times, we’ve embraced the outdoors with curiosity, creativity and resilience - making memories in every puddle, patch of mud and corner of the forest.
We had so much fun in the mud kitchen, whipping up muddy recipes and laughing together. Clay was in full supply as children made forest faces on trees, showing off their observational skills and creativity. Dinosaurs stomped their way into our week too, sparking role play that took us deep into prehistoric adventures and even some exciting dinosaur excavations!
When the weather brought us indoors, we kept the energy high. Football in the courtyard brought out teamwork and coordination, and we took time to water our growing plants with gentle care and pride.
Our creative journey into construction play blossomed, with children designing and building homes, first for dinosaurs, then themselves, and eventually a whole family of playful puppies! Magnetic tiles sparked engineering skills and shape exploration, as children built everything from tents and boats to houses and even pizzas. Through their play, they explored 2D and 3D shapes, developing spatial awareness and mathematical thinking.
Imaginative role play has been at the heart of the forest, transforming it into schools, pet care centres and builder’s yards. Children took on roles as teachers, puppies, and vets, caring for one another, leading play and working together with joy and creativity.
We also got busy cooking up some no-bake cookies that were a big hit! Made with soaked dates in oat milk, tahini, our breakfast muesli, coconut oil and a dash of pumpkin pie spice, the children helped blend, mix and of course, munch! It was a delicious way to connect through sensory play and shared effort.
Rain didn’t stop us either, we found magic under the trees and whilst sheltering beneath our tarp. Some of us listened to the sounds of the rain while others snuggled up for stories, creating cosy moments in the heart of the forest.
From hiding under trees during a downpour to being builders, bakers, and dinosaur explorers - this week has been a wonderful celebration of imagination, teamwork and the joy of nature.
Thank you for sharing this week with us, we can't wait for more adventures ahead!
