Chiswick -New Friends, Nature and Forest Fun

A Week of New Friends, Nature and Forest Fun!

What a wonderful week we’ve had in the forest, filled with laughter, new friendships and adventurous learning. With some special holiday campers joining us, the children welcomed lots of new faces and quickly formed new bonds through play, teamwork and shared discoveries. It’s been heartwarming to see everyone learning and growing together in nature. Let’s look back at some of our favourite forest moments!

Storytime Maths – Sneaky Fox and the Turtle Eggs

We started the week with a fun counting story featuring a sneaky fox and some turtle eggs! As the story unfolded, the children helped solve simple number problems, counting how many eggs were taken and how many were left. Their focus and number recall were impressive, and many confidently shared their answers with the group. Learning through storytelling made maths meaningful and magical!

Rope Maze Challenge

One of the week’s highlights was our rope maze, made from wooden beams and colourful ropes. The children navigated the tricky course, carefully thinking about where to step and what to hold on to. “Which way should I go next?” and “Where should I put my hand?” were questions they asked themselves as they worked through the challenge. It was amazing to see their confidence, balance and problem-solving skills in action – and most importantly, they all had so much fun!

Creative Clay Making

With a little imagination and a handful of clay, the children got to work creating their own masterpieces. From turtles to teacups, each sculpture was unique and carefully crafted. As they moulded and shaped their creations, they developed fine motor skills and expressed their ideas through tactile play. It was a calming and joyful experience for all.

Muddy Cooking in the Kitchen

Our mud kitchen was once again a hub of creativity and collaboration. This week’s menu featured muddy pasta and pancake recipes, lovingly “cooked” and shared by enthusiastic little chefs. As they poured, mixed and served, the children communicated their ideas and worked beautifully together – all while getting deliciously muddy!

Adventure Walk and Flower Hunt

To end the week, we set off on a forest adventure walk, keeping our eyes open for different types of flowers. The children delighted in spotting petals, colours and shapes along the trail. With magnifying glasses and keen eyes, they made wonderful observations and shared what they saw. It was a beautiful way to connect with nature and celebrate the vibrant signs of spring.

Thank you for another joyful week in the forest – full of wonder, learning and new connections. We’re so proud of how welcoming and kind the children were to our holiday campers, and we can’t wait to see where next week’s adventures take us!
